Stress amplification in the neighborhood of an eccentric large hole in a strip in tension

The problem of stress amplification in the thin ligaments (of thickness del ta(iota)) in an eccentrically placed hole in a strip in tension is analyzed by a beam theory approximation. The stress amplifies as O(R/delta).
