A review of recent experimental results obtained by neutron diffractio
n and inelastic neutron scattering on the inorganic spin-Peierls compo
und CuGeO3 is proposed. As the spin-Peierls scenario results from the
interplay between lattice and magnetic fluctuations, we will focus on
both aspects of the problem. With CuGeO3 most of the theoretical predi
ctions have been very quantitatively verified. In this article, we wil
l describe the most relevant results which have been obtained in zero
field and at low fields. However, there remains unsolved questions whi
ch we will discuss briefly.
