The magnetic behaviour of Nd2BaCoO5 has been studied by means of neutr
on powder diffraction at low temperatures. The magnetic structure is a
ntiferromagnetic and can be described on the basis of a wave vector k
= [1/2, 0, 1/2] with a B-g magnetic mode, T-N similar to 24 K being th
e estimated Neel temperature. The Nd3+ magnetic moments are parallel t
o the crystallographic c-axis and the Co2+ magnetic moments lie in the
ac plane oriented along the a-axis with a small canting in the z dire
ction. Their values at 1.5 K are 2.55(4)mu(B) and 3.08(7)mu(B), respec
tively.
