We have investigated the critical scattering in the incommensurate Kon
do lattice compound CeAl2. Q-scans at T greater than or equal to T-N s
how the existence of two length scales associated with two different c
ritical exponents. The broad component is shifted towards the commensu
rate position. Assuming that the narrow component is of magnetic origi
n, the observed intensity ratio of the two components is not consisten
t with the interpretation of the narrow component arising due to the s
train field close to the surface.
