Through a series of European Science Foundation-supported meetings and
discussions within the community, the scientific potential of a next-
generation pulsed spallation source that will deliver the beam power 3
0 times of ISIS has been explored. The resulting scientific case shows
that major new opportunities for the exploitation of neutron studies
in fundamental, strategic, and applied science will be opened up in bi
ology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering, materials science and p
hysics.
