Jg. Gonzalez-rodriguez et al., Electrochemical noise generated during pitting corrosion of sprayed Fe40Alintermetallics, EL SOLID ST, 3(10), 2000, pp. 470-472
A study of the susceptibility to pitting corrosion in NaCl solutions of spr
ayed and deposited Fe40 (atom %) Al-based intermetallic materials in 0.1 M
NaCl solution at room temperature using electrochemical noise was performed
. The experiments lasted 24 h. The testing materials included Fe40Al, Fe40A
l+0.1% B, and Fe40Al+0.1% B+10% Al2O3. The electrochemical noise readings s
howed that the base material, Fe40Al, was severely pitted, while the Fe40Al
+0.1B+10Al(2)O(3) material, exhibited mild pitting corrosion at the beginni
ng, but after 24 h the material was passivated, whereas the Fe40Al+0.1B was
not pitted throughout the experiment. The pitting on these materials did n
ot show a chaotic behavior. (C) 2000 The Electrochemical Society. S1099-006
