Abstract
The rise of fuzzy logic in the Taguchi method to optimise the submerged are welding process with multiple performance characteristics is reported in t his paper. An orthogonal array, the signal-to-noise ratio, multiresponse pe rformance index, and analysis of variance are employed to study the perform ance characteristics in the submerged are welding process. The process para meters, namely are current, are voltage, welding speed, electrode protrusio n, and preheat temperature are optimised with considerations of the perform ance characteristics, including deposition rate and dilution. Experimental results are provided to confirm the effectiveness of this approach.
