Abstract
Purpose: To report the results of primary phacoemulsification to treat unco ntrolled angle-closure glaucoma. Setting: Private practice and teaching hospital department. Methods: This retrospective interventional case series assessed 3 patients having phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantat ion for uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) after acute primary angle-c losure glaucoma. Results: Intraocular pressure control was achieved in all patients postoper atively. Conclusion: Primary phacoemulsification with the option of future trabecule ctomy should be considered in selected patients with persistent appositiona l angle closure and uncontrolled IOP after angle-closure glaucoma.
