(p, V-m, T) measurements on liquid and gaseous mixtures near the critical point. I. (xenon + ethane)

Measurements of (p, V-m, T) on {xXe + (1 - x)C2H6}, at x = (0, 0.237, 0.708 and 1), were carried out. The results reported in this paper cover the hom ogeneous gas and liquid regions in the temperature range from 273 K up to n ear the critical temperature of each mixture and at pressures up to 6.5 MPa . The molar volumes of the gas at the dew point pressure and of the Liquid at the bubble point pressure were obtained by extrapolation. Using the gas phase results, the second and third virial coefficients of the mixtures wer e calculated at T = 273 K. The question of whether (xenon + ethane) present s a barotropic inversion has also been considered. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
