E. Hernandez et al., Vanadyl(IV) complexes of sulfur-containing ligands with biological and pharmacological relevance, J COORD CH, 49(4), 2000, pp. 335-345
The behavior of thiosalicylic acid (H(2)TSA) and 6-mercaptopurine (MP) with
vanadyl(IV) cation has been studied in solution at different ligand-to-met
al ratios and pH values. The preparation and characterization of VO/TSA(I)
and VO/MP(II) complexes in the solid state is reported, The chemical enviro
nment of V in (I) is consistent with S and O atoms of TSA and two hydroxy b
ridges between two metal centers. Thr nearest neighbor atoms to V in (II) a
re S and N provided by the ligand and O atoms from hydroxyl groups. These r
esults have been supported by physicochemical studies.
