Abstract
The reaction of (S)-{[(Ph(Me)CH)(PhCH2)]NNa}(n) with pmdeta (N,N,N',N',N "- pentamethyldiethylenetriamine) produces red/green dichroic crystals of the azaallylic complexes {[Ph(Me)CNC(H)Ph]Na . pmdeta}, 3, and {[(PhCH)(2)N]Na . pmdeta}, 2; by X-ray diffraction 3 is found to be monomeric and structura lly similar to the previously characterised 2.
