Abstract
The present state of transition metal chemistry (restricted largely to the d-block elements) is surveyed with an eye to the history of the subject. Wi th the coordination chemistry of Alfred Werner as a base of reference, ther e are (evolutionary) developments that may be considered as evolving natura lly therefrom and (revolutionary) developments that seem not to have been a dumbrated by the Wernerian concepts.
