Abstract
A liquid chromatography-thermospray ionisation-mass spectrometry guided fra ctionation of the mycelial extract of Armillaria novae-zelandiae (strain CB S 432.72) led to the isolation of a new protoilludane sesquiterpene aryl es ter, 6'-chloro-10 alpha-hydroxymelleolide (9). The antibacterial and antifu ngal activity of 9 was determined.
