Synthesis of organotin derivatives using microwave irradiations

A series of novel thiadiazolyl/oxadiazolyl substituted organotin compounds 3a-j have been synthesized from tribenzyltin chloride 1 which on condensati on with 1,3,4-thiadiazoles/oxadiazoles yielded corresponding 2-(tribenzylti n thio)-5-alkyl/aryl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles/oxadiazoles in an open vessel under microwave irradiations (MWI) using a domestic microwave oven. The reaction time has been brought down from hours to seconds with improved yield in th is case as compared to the conventional hearing.
