Abstract
The complex [SnMePhCl2(Hmimt)] (Hmimt = 1-methyl-2(3H)-imidazolinethione) h as been synthesized by reaction of SnMePhCl2 and Hmimt in chloroform and ch aracterized by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, NMR (H-1,C-13 and Sn- 119), IR and Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray diffractometry. The tin atom is in a trigonal bipyramidal environment, coordinated to two C atoms [Sn-C(6)= 2.125(4), Sn-C(12) = 2.109(4) Angstrom], two Cl atoms [Sn-Cl(1)= 2.5069(11 ), Sn-Cl(2)= 2.6107(12) Angstrom] and an S [Sn-S = 2.4760(11) Angstrom]. In termolecular N(H)... Cl hydrogen bonds give rise to weakly bonded dimers.
