The influence of the dielectric-air interface on the radiation pattern of an antenna in a metallic photonic bandgap structure in a dielectric host medium
S. He et al., The influence of the dielectric-air interface on the radiation pattern of an antenna in a metallic photonic bandgap structure in a dielectric host medium, MICROW OPT, 26(6), 2000, pp. 367-371
An antenna in a metallic photonic bandgap structure consisting of metallic
wires embedded in a dielectric host medium is considered. An explicit metho
d is developed to quickly calculate the radiation pattern for arch an anten
na system. The influence of the dielectric constant and the location of the
dielectric-air interface on the radiation pattern is studied. Numerical re
sults for the directivity and radiation pattern are presented and compared
with those obtained by the finite-difference time-domain method (C) 2000 Jo
