Abstract
Second order nonlinear optical properties of the Zn-doped lithium niobate s ingle crystals have been quantitatively studied from the chemical bond view point. The results show that the second order nonlinear optical response of Zn-doped LiNbO3 single crystals at 1079 nm decreases linearly with increas ing Zn concentration in the crystal. This linear correlation is quantitativ ely expressed in the current work. Furthermore, in the present work the dif ferent influences of Mg and Zn dopants on the dielectric response of lithiu m niobate single crystals are compared. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
