Abstract
Electron capture by 50-keV fluorinated fullerene anions (C60Fn- 18<n<48) pr oduced in either a plasma or an electrospray ion source hits been studied i n collisions with Xe atoms, The relative importance of nondissociative vs d issociative electron capture was found to depend strongly on the ion produc tion method and on the number of attached F atoms. The absolute size of the cross section similar to 10(-16) cm(2) has been modeled within the over-th e-barrier model.
