States in doubly odd Fr-218 have been studied using in-beam spectroscopy al
pha- gamma- gamma coincidence techniques mainly through the Bi-209(O-18, 2
alpha n) reaction at 94 MeV bombarding energy, using the 8 pi GASP-ISIS spe
ctrometer at Legnaro. Fr-218 shows a band structure, with interleaved state
s of alternating parities connected by enhanced E1 transitions. Tentative s
pin assignment and the relation between the structure of Fr-218 and its iso
tone Ac-220 is discussed.
