issues is critical. This article discusses some of the economic factors tha
t shape mammography practice in the United States today. These topics inclu
de Medicare reimbursement, breast biopsy cost-effectiveness, the current fi
nancial challenges faced by breast imaging centers, and the cost-effectiven
ess of screening mammography.
