Abstract
In this article, the parameters used to describe the technical quality of m ammography are reviewed. Factors that influence the technical quality of sc reen-film and digital mammography are considered in terms of these paramete rs, and the compromises that must be made between image contrast, spatial r esolution, noise, and radiation dose to the breast are discussed.
