Abstract
Coupled transport of Cd(II) ions through a supported liquid membrane contai ning tricapryl amine in xylene has been examined. The influences of stirrin g rate, carrier concentration, stripping agent, and H+ concentration in the feed solution were investigated. The transport of Cd(II) ions is coupled b y cotransport of protons, The kinetics of Cd(II) transport could be analyze d in the formalism of two consecutive irreversible first-order reactions. T he pseudofirst-order apparent rate constants of interfacial reactions in me mbrane transport were determined with bulk liquid membrane at various tempe ratures. The activation energy values are 14.7 kJ.mol(-1) for extraction an d 12.4 kJ.mol(-1) for stripping.
