Abstract
The decomposition of Gd-2(SeO4)(3) in the presence of LiF in sealed gold am poules yields single crystals of Gd-3(SeO3)(4)F (hexagonal, P6(3)mc, Z = 2, a = 1044.3(1), b = 694.32(7) pm, R-all = 0.0286). In the crystal structure one SeO32- group and one F- ion cap a ring of three Gd atoms. Furthermore, the crystal structure is strongly influenced by the lone pairs of the SeO3 2- ions.
