Most of the theories and approaches applied to-day in German Work & Organiz
ational Psychology were developed up to the midts of the thirties of this c
entury. Nevertheless, considering the fundamental societal changes concerni
ng work it would be insufficient only to continue further these well-establ
ished lines of thinking. These changes will show severe impact on the topic
s of Work gr Organizational Psychology. Therefore this contribution discuss
es whether traditional Work Psychology more and more will change into a Psy
chology of goal-directed volitive activity (actions) at all, dealing along
with the traditional and various new forms of payed work with the increasin
g. body of unpayed forms of work (Eigenarbeit) too, and which topics and ap
proaches therefore should be re-analysed.
