Abstract
Increased thrombogenicity and acute embolism are well-recognized complicati ons of chronic anabolic steroid abuse. The following cases highlight such d angers in steroid-enhanced bodybuilders who developed intracardiac thrombos is that subsequently embolized. Systemic anticoagulation and surgical throm bectomy constituted the mainstay treatment. This represents the first repor t of such devastating cardiovascular complications after anabolic steroid a buse and their management. (C) 2000 by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
