Abstract
A new standard neutron source based on curium-248 has been developed, prepa red, and certified. The curium-248 isotope is more long-lived than californ ium-252. The active core of this source is a pellet made of an alloy of pla tinum with curium. The measured full neutron yield for this source is 2.30 x 10(4) s(-1) with 4% error at 0.95 confidence.
