Abstract
Microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) is a new technique whic h was employed to separate both basic and acidic proteins simultaneously. O ptimum separation conditions were investigated with respect to ionic streng th and the composition of microemulsion, The results show that if a stable microemulsion formed, the efficiency of protein separation was slightly aff ected by the concentration of the background and the composition of microem ulsion. The fundamental characteristics of MEEKC were studied in comparison with micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC), The mechanism of MEEKC was also investigated. The results show that MEEKC is an alternative way f or protein separations with a high efficiency.
