A. Gonzalez-casado et al., Determination of carbetamide in groundwater by micro liquid-liquid extraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, CHROMATOGR, 52(3-4), 2000, pp. 233-236
A method is proposed for the determination of carbetamide in water below Eu
ropean Union guidelines (detection limit, DI below 0.1 mu g L-1). Micro liq
uid-liquid extraction with dichloromethane affords carbetamide which is con
verted to aniline by hydrolysis. identification and quantification of anili
ne was performed by GC-MS. The retention time was 4.24 min. Quantification
was achieved by single-ion monitoring (SIM) at m / z 66 and 93. Clean-up is
not necessary before SIM. Deuterated anthracene (H-2(10)-anthracene) was u
sed as internal standard. The method was used to determine carbetamide in d
ifferent types of water sample spiked at very low concentration levels (0.1
3 - 10.00 mu g L-1). The DI was 0.04 mu g L-1. The effect of the presence o
f other carbamates was also studied.
