Abstract
A statistical model derived from a Box-Behnken design with three varia bles was used to evaluate the effect on the mechanical properties of c oncrete of the amount of a superabsorbent polymer/clay composite (SAPC ) added, the grain size of the SAPC, and the cement/water ratio. The S APC used as an additive in the preparation of aluminate cement paste a nd concrete promoted an increase in the compressive strength, the modu lus of elasticity as well as the split tensile strength.
