Genetics and biochemistry of Leishmania membrane transporters

The ability to done and functionally express genes encoding membrane transp orters in Leishmania and related parasitic protozoa has illuminated the pro cesses whereby these parasites acquire nutrients from their hosts. It is no w possible to probe the physiological functions of these permeases and inve stigate their role in drug delivery and resistance.
