A series of new monomers for polyimide (PI) formation were prepared by the
condensation reaction of 4-alkoxy-2,6-dichloro-s-triazine (I) with 2-furanm
ethylamine. The resulting 2,6-bis(2-furanylmethyl imino)-4-alkoxy-s-triazin
es (II) were obtained in 60-70% yield and were characterized by elemental a
nalysis, IR, and NMR spectroscopy Preliminary experimental study of the Die
ls-Alder (DA) intermolecular polymerization of such bis-furan derivatives (
II) with one of the bis-maleimides afforded PIs in a good yield. Systematic
work on PIs based on these monomers is under progress.
