Abstract
p-Isopropenyl benzoylacetone (IPBA), a novel unsaturated tautomer, was synt hesized from p-dichlorobenzene as the starting material and the solvent eff ect on its tautomerism was studied. Regression analysis of the tautomeric c onstants revealed that the equilibria depend on the polarity and hydrogen-b ond donor acidity of the solvents. Preliminary experiments on the polymeriz ation of IPBA were also performed.
