The influence of yperite and the products of its hydrolysis on soil microbi
ota is analyzed. It is shown that yperite-polluted soils are characterized
by a low oligotrophicity and the retardation of mineralization and immobili
zation of nitrogen. The pollution of soil by yperite-derived products or th
iodiglycol results in significant ecological shifts characterized by increa
sed indices of species dominance and a decrease in the indices of similarit
y and species diversity. This points to a decrease in the stability of the
biosystem in general.
