Abstract
This paper presents a viscous and coulomb friction measurement procedure fo r mechanical systems equipped with high-precision velocity sensors. The pro posed method exploits the structure of the velocity response predicted by s everal standard friction models when a force or torque is applied in a ramp fashion. Experimental results show the high accuracy of the proposed measu rement procedure.
