T. Matsushima et al., Oxygen distribution and site switching for CO2 formation on Pd(100), Pd(110) and Pt(113): An angular and velocity distribution study, JPN J A P 1, 39(7B), 2000, pp. 4389-4394
The working site providing reactive oxygen was examined from the angular an
d velocity distributions of the desorbing product, CO2, on Pd(100), Pd(110)
, and Pt(113) by means of cross-correlation time-of-flight techniques. Arou
nd a critical CO pressure where the rate-determining step of CO oxidation s
hifted from CO adsorption to O-2 dissociation, site switching was confirmed
for CO2 formation on Pt(113) and Pd(110). On the other hand, no site switc
hing was found on Pd(100) although clear changes were observed in the chemi
cal kinetics for CO2 formation.
