Abstract
As DWDM transmission lines reach tighter frequency spacing and higher chann
el loading, system engineers need to address dispersion, four-wavelength mi
xing, and channel power regulation in conjunction with optical add/drop mul
tiplexing functions. A modular optical amplifier is a possible solution.
