Abstract
A new family of Cl- channels widely expressed in epithelia has been identif ied. These proteins are associated with Ca2+-sensifive conductive Cl- trans port when heterologously expressed This family may underlie the Ca2+-mediat ed Cl- conductance responsible for rescue of the cystic fibrosis knockout m ouse from significant airway disease.
