Abstract
All-optical switching at 1.5 mu m based on induced nonlinear polarization r otation is demonstrated in both a polarization maintaining and a standard t elecom fiber. Excellent switching stability is obtained in both cases by re moving any detrimental temperature or pressure induced changes of the outpu t polarization state with a Farady mirror stabilization scheme.
