The new dihydroborate [Li(Et2O)][B(C6F5)(2)(H)(2)] (1) has been prepared an
d characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In the solid state 1 e
xhibits a one-dimensional chain structure that is a result of intermolecula
r Li-F interactions. Reaction between 1 and one equivalent of Cp2TiCl or 0.
5 equivalents of Cp2TiCl2 gives the violet compound Cp2Ti{(mu-H)(2)B(C6F5)(
2)} (2), which has also been characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffract
ion. Addition of two equivalents of PM3, to 2 does not result in eliminatio
n of a borane:phosphine adduct, but yields the ionic compound [Cp2Ti(PMe3)(
2)][H2B(C6F5)(2)] (3). (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
