The development and optimization of spin-echo-based, single-slab, three-dim
ensional techniques for magnetic resonance imaging of the whole brain are d
escribed. T1-weighted and T2-weighted image sets with a volume resolution o
f 1 mm(3) and fluid-attenuated inversion-recovery image sets with a volume
resolution of 3 mm(3) were obtained in acquisition times of less than 10 mi
nutes per image set.
