D. Budker et al., Obtaining frequency markers of variable separation with a spherical mirrorFabry-Perot interferometer, REV SCI INS, 71(8), 2000, pp. 2984-2987
A compact (L approximate to 5 cm) spherical Fabry-Perot interferometer with
adjustable mirror spacing is used to produce interference fringes with fre
quency separation (c/2L)/N, N less than or similar to 20. These fringes are
used as frequency markers in a Doppler-free saturation spectroscopy experi
ment. The conditions for observation of the fringes are discussed in terms
of the eigenmodes of the cavity with high transverse indices. (C) 2000 Amer
