Complexation processes were studied that occur in cobalt(II) hexacyanoferra
te(II) gelatin-immobilized matrix systems when they come in contact with aq
ueous solutions of 1-nitroso-2-hydroxynaphthalene and its isomer, 2-nitroso
-1-hydroxynaphthalene (HL) in an alkaline medium (pH similar to 12). Under
these specific conditions, predominantly coordination compounds of Co(II) w
ith the corresponding ligand are formed with the ratio Co2+ : L- = 1 : 2, w
hereas the 1 : 3 complexes of Co(III) are formed in insignificant amounts.
