Yf. Biryulin et al., Transformation of the electronic structure of fullerene C-60 caused by complex formation in N-methylpyrrolidone solutions, TECH PHYS L, 26(8), 2000, pp. 662-665
Evolution of the electronic absorption and photoluminescence spectra of the
fullerene C-60 solutions with various concentrations in a polar solvent (N
-methylpyrrolidone) was studied. Comparison with the electrooptical propert
ies of these solutions shows that a slow (associative) fullerene-solvent in
teraction mechanism is operative at large (nearly saturating) concentration
s (1 x 10(-3) g/cm(3)), whereas the solutions of relatively low concentrati
on (less than 5 x 10(-4) g/cm(3)) exhibit fast complex formation between fu
llerene and the solvent molecules. The latter interaction significantly cha
nges the electronic structure of fullerene. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperio
