The shape of a beam autograph in an electron energy analyzer with a screw m
agnetic axis was theoretically analyzed in a single-particle approximation.
It is established that the autograph represents a flat smooth spiral invol
ving inward with increasing energy and possessing self-tangency points. The
dynamic range of the beam spectrum variation in the energy analyzer based
on a screw-magnetic-axis solenoid is markedly greater as compared to that i
