Abstract
(1S,2S)-(+)-Thiomicamine was transformed in high yield and with high diaste reoselectivity into (3R,4R)-4-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carbo xylic acid and enantiomerically pure (3R,4R)-3-hydroxymethyl-4-phenyl- and (1R,3R,4R)-3-hydroxymethyl-1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline derivatives.
