Lm. Andersson et Ts. Bateman, Individual environmental initiative: Championing natural environmental issues in US business organizations, ACAD MGMT J, 43(4), 2000, pp. 548-570
Several bodies of literature contributed to a framework describing how thre
e activities-identifying, packaging, and selling-can lead to successful env
ironmental championing. The results of a field study comparing successful a
nd unsuccessful championing episodes in U.S. business organizations support
ed the framework. Specifically, individuals who successfully championed env
ironmental issues engaged in more environmental scanning, employed particul
ar framing dimensions and presentation styles, and used several influence t
actics. For some championing behaviors, successful outcomes depended on the
strength of a company's environmental paradigm.
