Abstract
Entropy, the depletion of usable energy, when combined with Foster's t readmill of production and Luxemburg's capitalist catastrophe, predict a breakdown of the capitalist economic order, The breakdown is unavoi dable because of the dialectical nature of technological change and th e production of capital, the driving forces of capitalism, and the una voidable depletion of fossil fuels, especially oil. Desert Storm could be considered the precursor of future oil-driven conflicts, and the p ossible proliferation of nuclear weapons among minor powers points to a dismal future.
