The turbidimetric titration procedure was applied to determine the sol
ubility parameters, delta(p)s', of styrene-maleic anhydride (S/MA) and
epoxidized natural rubber copolymers of various compositions at 30.0
degrees C. A novel algorithm has been proposed to deal with situation
when the conventional data treatment of the technique fails. A peculia
r feature of the S/MA copolymers was satisfactorily dealt with in the
present analysis. It was established that the delta(p)s' of these copo
lymers could be adequately expressed as the volume-average of the delt
a(p)s' of the two component polymers. On the basis of the foregoing re
lationship, the delta(p)s' of the poly(maleic anhydride) and cis-poly(
1,2-dimethylene-2-methyloxirane) were predicted. (C) 1997 Elsevier Sci
