Abstract
Bone mineral density measurement has become an invaluable tool for assessin g an individual's fracture risk and monitoring response to therapy. This ar ticle outlines the technologic aspects of central and peripheral densitomet ry necessary fur proper performance and interpretation. The use of bone min eral measurements in clinical practice to assess fracture risk and monitor the effects of therapy is also explored.
