Abstract
Experimental distributions of the electron density in the ionosphere obtain ed by the method of satellite radiotomography are analyzed. The data were c ollected in the course of the Russian-American Tomography Experiment (RATE) in 1993 and the International Campaign in northern Scandinavia in 1995. Th e results of reconstruction of the data by both experiments contain the lat itude-altitude distributions of electron density in the F-region near the M ain Ionospheric Trough. A two-dimensional multicomponent mathematical model of the high-latitude ionosphere developed in the Polar Geophysical Institu te was used to interpret irregularities of the electron density.
